Vietnamese Athlete Wins Bronze in Long Jump at Asian Athletics Championships
Huong, representing the Vietnamese delegation, achieved a personal best of 13.68 meters, securing the first medal for Vietnam at the tournament.
Mariko Morimoto from Japan won the gold medal in the event with an impressive leap of 14.06 meters, while Zeng Rui from China claimed the silver medal with a jump of 14.01 meters.
At the age of 21, Huong previously won a bronze medal at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia in May, achieving a triple jump of 13.46 meters.
In December 2022, Huong also earned a silver medal with a jump of 12.94 meters at the ninth National Sports Festival.
The 2023 Asian Athletics Championships is currently taking place in Bangkok, Thailand from July 12 to 16, marking the 25th edition of this prestigious event.
Additionally, this competition serves as a qualifying stage for athletes aiming to participate in the 2023 World Athletics Championships, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary from August 19 to 27.
